2014 Meteor Choice Song of the Year Shortlist

The Meteor Choice Music Prize, in association with IMRO and IRMA, today announces the shortlist for Irish Song of the Year 2014.
The ten Irish songs now go to a public vote with the overall winner to be revealed at the 10th Meteor Choice Music Prize Live Event at Vicar Street on Thursday, 5th March.
The Meteor Choice Music Prize - Irish Song of the Year Award recognises the nation’s favourite songs of last year. Every year since its inception, the Irish Song of the Year has encouraged people to celebrate Irish artists by shining a spotlight on the very best songs of the past year. The platform for homegrown Irish music has grown since the Irish Song of the Year Prize was established in 2011, and competition for the award is always fierce.
Meteor is encouraging people to get involved by casting their vote through the Meteor website – www.meteor.ie/choice where a full list of the nominees is also available.
The Shortlist for 2014
The Irish Song of the Year shortlist is compiled by combining selected songs from the Meteor Choice Music Prize Judging Panel, Today FM, and the Irish Airplay charts as compiled by Radio Monitor.
The shortlist is:

- Kodaline – One Day (Sony Music)
- Kormac – Wake Up (Bodytonic)
- Little Hours – It’s Still Love (Little Hours Music)
- The Minutes – Cherry Bomb (Model Citizen)
- Sinead O’ Connor – Take Me To Church (Nettwerk)
- The Riptide Movement – All Works Out (Universal Music Ireland)
- The Script – Superheroes (Sony Music)
How to Vote & Win Tickets to the Event
It is the public who will decide the winner by voting online at www.meteor.ie./choice. All voters are in with a chance to win smartphones and tickets to the Meteor Choice Music Prize Live Event on Thursday, 5th March in Vicar Street and people can vote once a day until voting closes at midnight on March 1st.
The winning entry will be announced at the Live Event and awarded the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year trophy along with a prize fund of €3,000. The shortlisted songs will be profiled on air across Today FM and TXFM. The Meteor Choice Music Prize Live Event will be broadcast live on the night on the Paul McLoone Show on Today FM. In addition, the show will air as part of a special TV broadcast on the evening of 8th March on RTÉ 2. This year the event will be extra special as it is the 10th year of the Meteor Choice Music Prize.
